Grease stains in clothing

Cooking, baking, eating or car maintenance for example, grease is spilled everywhere. Most of the grease stains can be removed easily. In this tip a number of options are mentioned to remove grease stains.
 

  • Dishwashing detergent breaks down fat and is effective for nearly all types of stains. Spray some dishwashing detergent on the stain and rub carefully. After this treatment the clothing can be washed in the machine.
     
  • Moisten the stains and scatter chalk powder on it. Leave it like this for one night and wash the clothing in the machine.
     
  • Rub a slice of lemon on the stain before washing the clothing.
     
  • Dab the stain with perchloroethylene ( "PERC"). This is particularly useful when treating old stains.
     
  • Grease stains on leather? Scatter chalk powder on the stain and leave it on there for a day. Brush the powder away afterwards.
     
  • Let the stain soak in milk for half an hour and wash the clothing in the machine.
     
  • Moisten the stain with lemon juice and scatter salt on it. The fat will be absorbed by the salt. Remove the salt after about 10 minutes.
    Note: Salt cannot be used on all materials!
     
  • Brush the stain with a combination of liquid dishwasher detergent and detergent for the washing machine. Pour some dishwasher detergent on the stain, add the detergent powder on top and remove the stain by brushing. Rinse with water and wash the clothing in the machine.
