Sweat stains
Sweat stains in (white) clothing often leave yellow stains. The smell of sweat is not the most pleasant smell there is. Even after the clothing has been washed the sweat stains can still smell. This tip provides a couple of options to remove the stains and smell of sweat.
- Soak the clothing a night in a bucket with water and vinegar for . A quarter of a liter of vinegar can be added to 5 liters of water. Using more of less vinegar does not cause any problems. Wash the clothing the next morning in the machine. The water and vinegar can be put in the machine as well.
- Rub some liquid detergent on the stain and leave it on for about half an hour. Afterwards the clothing can be washed together with other laundry.
- Soak the clothing for about half an hour in water with hydrogen peroxide. The ratio is about 50/50. Rinse the clothing with cold water and let it dry. Once it has dried it can be washed in the machine.
- Spray some vinegar on the stain, let it soak for half an hour and wash it in the machine.
- In order to make sure the smell does not come back after washing the clothing, vinegar can be put in the fabric softener tray of the washing machine. A couple of spoons of salt is helpful as well.
- Yellow stains in white shirts can be removed by rubbing bicarbonate of soda on them. Rinse with cold water after about 15 minutes and wash it in the machine.
- Soak white shirts a night in hot water with a dishwasher tablet. Shirts will be fresh and white again. Wash the shirts in the machine the next day.
